Abstract

Individuals must maintain a number of relatioal provisions to estabilish the conditions Social support is obtained through the social network and can influences health or well-being. Social Support has generally used in nursing, hut the definitions and descriptions of the concept of social support is various on the many lituratures. Therefore it is nescessary to clarify ambiguous concepts in a theory and practice.
The purpose of this study is to define and analyse the concept of social support according to concept analysis discribed by walker and Avant.
Attributes of social support are
1) Emotional attention that include love, care, encouragement, affection, trust, comprehension and listening.
2) Provision of information that is required to solve a various problems.
3) Positive appraisal that approve individual belief or value.
4) Material supply which is synonymous with instrumental support that provide. financial assistance. time, and/or labor.
Antecedents of social support implicate with stressful situation such as disease or crisis. Consequences of social support contribute to increase adaptation, coping and health promotion.
This study has been helpful to identify the concept of social support boosting nursing intervention and can be used in future research concerning social support.
